[Sample] Expiration Date and Label Inspection

An example configuration for checking expiration dates and labels on packaged products and recording inspection results.

Sample case study
This example demonstrates the case study format. Existing product images are used for reference, and the site and configuration describe a hypothetical scenario.

Site and requirements

This example uses a hypothetical food packaging line. The configuration checks printed expiration dates and label condition against consistent criteria and lets operators view results at the line.

Proposed configuration

  • Connect a product sensor, camera and lighting to capture inspection images.
  • Check expiration date characters and label presence and position against configured criteria.
  • Display results on the operator screen and stack light, and connect to a reject mechanism.
  • Store inspection images and decisions for later review.

Operating flow

  1. Select the product and inspection criteria.
  2. Detect the product, capture an image and run inspection.
  3. Display the result and separate rejected products.
  4. Review inspection history and alarms.

Points to review

The proposed workflow includes managing criteria when products change and checking lighting, camera position and the reject mechanism. Actual inspection items depend on product characteristics and line conditions.
